Eighteen people, including five women, have died after consuming spurious liquor in Bihar's Bhojpur district in last twenty four hours. Four of them were admitted to a government hospital in critical condition, said the police on Saturday."The death toll from consuming spurious liquor in Bhojpur rose to 18 on Saturday with 11 more people losing lives," a district police official said.
All the victims belong to impoverished Dalit families.
Bhojpur Superintendent of police M R Nayak said that sixteen people have been arrested in this connection.
Bhojpur District Magistrate Pratima S Verma said a six-member committee had been constituted to probe the incident.
